BoroBit in the World of Open Banking
For us, it was a meeting with what we work toward every day – a glimpse of the future that is slowly but surely making its way here as well.
When you see the name of your project on the screen, alongside companies with millions of users and dozens of teams behind them, you realize that the true value isn’t in the award itself, but in the journey that led here — from an idea that started as a personal hobby project, driven by the desire to apply your expertise and create something genuinely useful for people, to the moment when that idea stands on a big stage.
Sharing the stage with projects like Cheddar and MoneySuite was an honor and a powerful experience.
We saw up close how mature and natural a financial ecosystem can be when open banking is part of everyday life, not just a regulatory requirement.
In London, this is already a reality — not on slides, but in everyday life.
In restaurants and pubs, people split the bill with each other directly on their phones, while out on the streets you see ads from banks that no longer talk about accounts, but about a “financial experience”.
There, open banking just happens — naturally, without anyone even calling it that.
And that’s exactly where the potential and meaning lie — in seeing what already works around the world and knowing that one day it will happen here too.
BoroBit started as a hobby project. Over time, it grew into something bigger – an opportunity to give people and families a tool that helps them understand and manage their money better.
Here, open banking is still taking its first steps — but that’s exactly what makes it interesting. You have the chance to create something real and needed.
For the people around you.
Our mission is to help Bulgarians manage their money better.
To give them a tool that is useful, easy to understand, and connected to all banks and fintech services available in Bulgaria.
We’ve come a long way, but we know there’s still a lot ahead of us.
People make it clear what they expect and what they need, and we want to move in that direction — to keep developing BoroBit until it becomes a natural part of everyday life for every Bulgarian — at home, with family, in daily life.
Yes, the nomination is a form of recognition, but for us the meaning behind it matters more — it’s a sign that Bulgaria has potential, that we’re on the right path, and that what we saw abroad isn’t a distant dream, but a direction we’re already moving toward.
Congratulations to Cheddar — a well-deserved win.
Being among such projects is inspiring. It pushes you to move forward with even more drive and confidence that you’re on the right path.
